Divisions

BLOMHA offers four levels of hockey through our four programs, Development, House League, Rep A and Rep MD. Development and House League are our largest programs with 14 divisions comprised of over 150 teams. The two programs accommodate boys and girls from ages four to eighteen. There is no body checking allowed in the Development and House League divisions. Fun, safety and fair play are large parts of the mandate for these programs and to this end teams that play official league games are awarded fair play points for games where penalties are kept to a minimum. The allowable maximum penalty minutes before losing a fair play point fluctuates with the division age. Fair play points are factored into the standings including playoffs.

Rep A teams are operated in the following divisions, Minor Atom, Atom, Minor Peewee, Peewee, Minor Bantam and Bantam. MD teams are operated in Novice through Minor Midget. Body checking is part of the game in the Minor Atom through Midget divisions. Body checking requires advanced skills on the part of the participants including Coaches, Trainers and Referees. The instruction and development of body checking is taught by qualified instructors who emphasize safe, effective and legal checking techniques to minimize the risk of injury and to enhance the level of play.
